Biff Bang Pow! – Someone Stole My Wheels

To most people Alan McGhee was simply the figurehead behind Creation Records, but to me he was the main man in one of my all time fave 80s indie bands Biff Bang Pow! Someone Stole My Wheels was from the excellent album The Girl Who Runs The Beat Hotel and is available on the compilation CD Waterbomb.

McCarthy – In Purgatory

One of the great British indie bands from the 80s but maybe in my eyes only? McCarthy’s Tim Gane went on to form Stereolab but In Purgatory is one of my fave singles ever.

Teenage Fanclub – About You

West Coast sounds from Scottish hipsters. From the album Grand Prix this is my kind of sound!

A Certain Ratio – Lucinda

From the 1982 album Sextet, this is my favourite ironing song!

Wim Mertens – The Fosse

An unusual release for Factory Records but this track from Belgian harpist Wim Mertens somes up the brilliant album Educes Me. Fantastic haunting harmonies throughout :)
